Painted lacquer Bi (ritual spoon) with grid-dot pattern

Qin Dynasty (221–207 BC)

Unearthed in 1975 from Shuihudi M9, Yunmeng.

Length: 23.5 cm, bowl width: 5.2 cm

Wooden core, carved and shaped. The obverse side painted with geometric pattern composed of interlaced rhombuses and hollow crosses, with leaf pattern filling the gaps. The reverse side needle-incised with characters.
