Lid of rectangular painted lacquer box with double boar-mouth-shaped ears

Western Han Dynasty (206 BC–25 AD)

Unearthed in 1975 from Shuihudi M47, Yunmeng.

Height: 6.5 cm, length: 27.1 cm, width: 13.7 cm

Wooden core, made by hollowing forming. The body of the box is lost. The eyes, eyebrows, mouth and nose of a boar’s head are painted on both ends, while the surface is decorated with stylized phoenix pattern, undulating pattern and other patterns.
