Painted lacquer Zun (cup) with cloud and phoenix patterns

Western Han Dynasty (206 BC–25 AD)

Unearthed in 1992 from Gaotai M28, Jingzhou.

Height: 9.5 cm, mouth diameter: 8.8 cm

Wooden core, made by coiling forming. Single loop handle (damaged); bronze hoops on top and bottom of the wall; three bronze hoof-shaped feet at base. Red and brown decorative patterns successively adorn the exterior, inner rim and central inner bottom against a black lacquer ground.
