This work takes as its theme moments of transition in one’s life and career, reflecting periods of questioning and self-examination. Created in the winter of 2006, the teapot adopts a rounded form, embellished with intaglio-carved question marks and exclamation marks set in inverted orientations. Subtle tonal variations are achieved through surface finishing techniques, reinforcing the conceptual tension of the piece.The work is made from Huanglongshan Zisha clay sourced from Dingshu, Yixing, Jiangsu Province. It won the Silver Prize of “Guoxin·Hundred Flowers Cup" China Arts and Crafts Fine Works Award in 2013.
