The rim is petal-shaped, with the stem rendered in a pale green glaze. A small circular aperture at the center of the lotus stamen inside the cup connects to the hollow lotus stem, allowing the vessel to be used for drinking by suction. The exterior is inscribed in regular script with nineteen characters, reading: “Memorial Cup for the Autumn Military Maneuvers near Taihu, Anhui, in the Thirty-fourth Year of the Guangxu Reign of the Qing dynasty.”
