“The Lychee“By Wen Zhengming

Wen Zhengming (1470-1559, named Bi, his courtesy name is“Zhengming” and later changed as “Zhengzhong”. His art name is“Hengshang”or “Hengshan Jushi”. He was born in Changzhou (Today’s Suzhou) and was good at poetries, paintings and was particularly better at calligraphies in Running Script and Regular Script.  He is a representative of the School of Wu and one of the Four Great masters in Ming dynasty, the other three being Shen Zhou, Tan Yin and Qiu Ying. His son Wen Peng is a seal-cutting master in Ming and Qing dynasty.
