Dai Jin (1388-1462), also known by his zi (courtesy names) Wenjin and Wenjie and his hao (literary names) Jing'an and Yuquan Shanren, was a native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. He attracted numerous followers in later generations. As the founder of the Zhejiang School in the Ming dynasty, he excelled in landscape painting as well as religious figures, figural subjects, animals, flowers and fruits, and birds-and-insects; already in the Ming period, his works were acclaimed as jueyi (consummate masterpieces). His landscape paintings usually incorporate scenes of human activity and display diverse styles. His representative works include Returning Boat in a Storm(Fengyu guizhou tu).
