Jin Nong (1687-1764), also known by his zi (courtesy name) Shoumen and his hao (literary names) Dongxin and Jiliu Shanmin, was a native of Renhe (modern-day Hangzhou). As one of the “Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics”(Yangzhou School of Painters), he was a man of vast learning and diverse talents, excelling in poetry, prose, calligraphy, and painting, while also possessing a profound expertise in connoisseurship. He is particularly renowned for his clerical script and created a unique calligraphic style. He excelled in painting landscapes, figures, Buddhist subjects, and animals, as well as flowers and plants, particularly plum blossoms and bamboo, all executed in a distinctive style.
